    Five persons dead from single-vehicle crash in Trelawny – Jamaica Inquirer

    5 individuals died on account of accidents they sustained in a single-vehicle crash on the Salt Marsh essential highway in Trelawny early on Sunday morning.

    The deceased haven’t but been recognized, however police have confirmed that the victims are 4 males and a girl.

    A number of different injured individuals who have been travelling within the Toyota Hiace mini-bus that was concerned, are being handled at hospital.

    Head of the Public Security and Visitors Enforcement Department (PSTEB), Assistant Commissioner of Police, Dr Gary McKenzie, offered reporters with some preliminary particulars on the crash.

    He mentioned about 2:30 am on Sunday, the police have been alerted to the crash alongside the Salt Marsh essential highway. On their arrival, the Toyota Hiace minibus, a public passenger car (PPV), was discovered mangled on the right-hand facet of the roadway heading in direction of St James.

    “The police investigations have unearthed that 5 individuals have died from the motorcar crash; 4 males and one feminine,” mentioned McKenzie.

    He mentioned the car appeared to have been travelling alongside the roadway in direction of St James from Kingston when the motive force failed to barter a left-hand curve.

    “(The driving force) failed to barter that curve at a excessive pace, went to the appropriate of the roadway, (then drove) off the roadway, collided with a number of palm bushes, and finally crashed with (into) a concrete gentle pole,” McKenzie added.

    He defined that the car appeared to have flipped over, and individuals have been subsequently faraway from the wreckage.

    Emergency groups, together with these from the Trelawny Hearth Brigade, assisted the injured to the hospital.
