The Delivery Affiliation of Jamaica, SAJ and key stakeholders are urging importers and cargo house owners to take quick motion by clearing items which have already been stripped from containers.

In an announcement, the SAJ says Jamaica’s ports and cargo warehouses proceed to face important congestion, weeks after the normal vacation rush.

The affiliation notes that the backlog was compounded in October following Hurricane Melissa, which disrupted operations throughout western Jamaica, delaying the gathering of cargo already landed at ports.

It says the surge of reduction provides from the diaspora and worldwide donors, mixed with peak vacation imports, created an unprecedented quantity of shipments.

SAJ says whereas some cargo was diverted from Montego Bay to Kingston as a contingency, terminals within the capital proceed to function at ranges above their regular capability.

President of the Affiliation, Corah Ann Robertson-Sylvester is warning that uncollected cargo is slowing operations throughout the maritime sector.
