    Labour Minister warns that authorities will take strong action to preserve integrity of overseas work programme

    Labour Minister Pearnel Charles Junior has said that the authorities will take robust motion to protect the integrity of the abroad work programme.

    Mr Charles JNR mentioned it is a remaining warning to individuals who undertake actions outdoors of the regulation, in relation to the programme.

    He identified that simply yesterday, he was despatched a message, which is being circulated on social media, claiming he may also help them get onto the farm work programme.

    The minister mentioned the farm work programme is essential to the nation, noting that 2026 marks 60 years since Jamaican staff have been going to Canada for work.

    He underscored the significance of the abroad work programme, particularly following Hurricane Melissa.

    The Authorities in the present day formally despatched off the primary group of seasonal agricultural staff for the 2026 farming season in Canada.

    98 departed in the present day and 85 will go away tomorrow, totalling 183 staff.

    They are going to be engaged in inexperienced home agriculture, in addition to the cultivation of vegatables and fruits, over the following eight months.
