    What’s It Like Being Married to a Jamaican?

    When cultures collide, love takes on an entire new that means Love is aware of no borders, and for Mikey and Ramone, their marriage is an exquisite mix of Jamaican and U.S. Virgin Islands cultures. Their journey is full of laughter, cultural discoveries, and, after all, unbelievable meals. On this episode of Married to a Jamaican, Xavier talks to the couple about navigating a multicultural relationship.

    How They Met

    Their love story started in a grocery store, the place Mikey, a grocery supervisor, met Ramone, a passionate Jamaican buyer annoyed over an out-of-stock merchandise. What began as a tense encounter become friendship and, ultimately, love. Mikey’s endurance and kindness gained Ramone over, and their bond grew stronger over time.

    Navigating Cultural Variations

    From completely different vacation traditions—Mikey’s Puerto Rican Christmas Eve vs. Ramone’s Christmas Day—to contrasting communication kinds, they’ve discovered to embrace their variations. Mikey appreciates Ramone’s boldness, whereas she values his regular help. Collectively, they have fun each cultures, creating their distinctive household traditions.

    Meals & Language Fusion

    Mikey has fallen in love with Jamaican meals, particularly oxtail and crimson pea soup, whereas Ramone has embraced Puerto Rican dishes. Their family is a flavorful mixture of each cuisines, with their kids rising up in a trilingual atmosphere—talking English, Spanish, and Patois.

    Though Mikey has but to go to Jamaica, they plan to go quickly, with Ramone keen to point out him the island by means of a neighborhood’s lens.
