Kingston, Jamaica – The Transport Authority has prosecuted quite a few public passenger car operators and seized over 50 autos in a crackdown on bus and taxi drivers who’ve elevated fares following Hurricane Melissa.

Commuters have taken to social and conventional media to complain in regards to the sudden hikes. One girl informed our information centre that on the route from Linstead, St. Catherine, to downtown Kingston, bus fares have doubled.

Ralston Smith, managing director of the Transport Authority, warned that serial offenders danger having their licences revoked. He confused that the measures are supposed to defend commuters and make sure that fare buildings are strictly adopted.

The Transport Authority has vowed to proceed enforcement till all operators adjust to the laws.
