    Subsea fibre optic cable to be operational by third quarter next year

    A subsea fibre optic cable for Jamaica is anticipated to be operational by the third quarter of subsequent 12 months.

    Yesterday, the federal government signed a letter of intent with Trans Americas Fiber system for the subsea cable mission, which goals to strengthen the nation’s digital infrastructure.

    Telecommunications Minister Daryl Vaz famous that the ultimate settlement is anticipated to be signed later this 12 months, with building of the cable anticipated for the fourth quarter of 2026.

    The subsea cable initiative is geared toward increasing, securing, and upgrading Jamaica’s worldwide fibre optic connectivity.

    The first purpose of the initiative is to enhance the reliability, pace and affordability of broadband web entry, whereas fostering financial progress.

    Mr. Vaz stated the signing of the letter of intent is one other step by the federal government to strengthen the digital spine of the nation.

    He stated this initiative, as soon as finalised, is anticipated to scale back price by as much as 99%, which interprets into extra reasonably priced web and extra alternatives for companies and households.
