A contingent of members of the safety forces has been deployed to Haiti to help the Gang Suppression Pressure (GSF).

The 25 member staff has 18 troopers and seven cops. Twelve Jamaica Defence Pressure (JDF) personnel are being rotated, and one new JCF member will be a part of the contingent.

Jamaica now has 26 members of the safety forces deployed to Haiti.

Chief of defence employees of the JDF Vice Admiral Antonette Wemyss-Gorman, notes that that is the third contingent to be deployed in help of Haiti.

The JDF in a press release says it is a deliberate rotation that ensures the sustained effectiveness and operational readiness of Jamaica’s deployed personnel, whereas sustaining continuity of mission targets.

It stated the earlier two deployments supported the Multinational Safety Assist Mission (MSSM).

With the adoption of a United Nations decision to transition from the MSSM to the GSF earlier this yr, the jamaican contingent is supporting this new thrust to revive legislation and order in Haiti.

The GSF works intently with the Haitian Nationwide Police and the Haitian Armed Forces to conduct operations geared toward restoring security and safety for the citizenry, offering safety for important infrastructure, and supporting humanitarian entry.

The jamaican contingent supplies operational, strategic and logistic help to the headquarters of the GSF.
