St Andrew, Jamaica – A person was shot and killed by police throughout an alleged confrontation in Grants Pen, St Andrew, late Monday evening. The deceased has been recognized as 44-year-old Gerald Gallimore, in any other case generally known as ‘Birdie’.

Reviews from the police point out that round 11:30 p.m., officers had been conducting an operation alongside Grants Pen Drive when Gallimore allegedly challenged the lawmen. Throughout what police say was an trade of gunfire, Gallimore was shot.

He was reportedly present in possession of a Glock pistol fitted with {a magazine} containing 4 rounds of ammunition, which was seized on the scene. Gallimore was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital, the place he later succumbed to his accidents.

The incident is now underneath investigation by the Impartial Fee of Investigations (INDECOM), which is tasked with probing actions by the safety forces.

Gallimore’s dying marks the second deadly police capturing within the St Andrew North division in current days. On Friday, 27-year-old Shaquille ‘Canine Enamel’ Dawkins was fatally shot by police within the 100 Lane space, sparking two days of protest by residents demanding solutions.

INDECOM has reiterated its name for the obligatory use of body-worn cameras by cops, significantly throughout deliberate operations, to extend transparency and accountability.
