    Crackdown looms on PPV operators playing loud/lewd music from sound systems – Jamaica Inquirer

    The Transport Authority (TA) is about to accentuate its enforcement efforts in opposition to public passenger automobile (PPV) operators who flout laws governing the taking part in of music on such autos.

    The crackdown is coming because the TA seeks to deal with rising issues about loud and obscene music being performed in PPVs.

    The TA reminded PPV operators of the laws on their social media pages in a discover on Thursday.

    Beneath Part 15 of the Transport Authority Laws, using flash drives, Bluetooth, CDs, or every other gear able to taking part in again video or audio recordings is strictly prohibited in PPVs, aside from AM or FM radio bands. PPV operators present in breach of the laws may face a nice of as much as $25,000 if discovered responsible in a parish court docket.

    The laws don’t apply to autos licensed as contract carriers, the discover acknowledged.

    “Beneath part 15 of the Transport Authority Laws (2018):

    (1) An individual shall not play or trigger to be performed on any automobile, any musical instrument, any sound or video recordings of any kind or any broadcast of any sound or video programme, besides a broadcast from an Am or FM station in Jamaica obtained by the use of radio.

    (2) An individual shall not set up or trigger to be put in in any automobile any gear able to:- (a) taking part in again any digital video-disc recording, video recording, compact disc recording or different sound recording; or

    (b) Receiving any broadcast sign, besides a radio that receives materials broadcast from an AM or FM radio station in Jamaica

    (3) The place a radio is put in in a automobile, it shall be a radio with none facility to playback cassette tape recordings, compact disc recordings or every other type of recordings, and the radio shall be with none enhancements that facilitate the taking part in of any sound apart from materials obtained from a broadcast from an AM or FM radios station in Jamaica.

    (4) This regulation shall not apply to a automobile that’s licensed for contract carriage companies.”
