    AK-47 Rifle, Ammunition Seized in St. Thomas Police Operation

    Seaforth, St. Thomas – A police operation carried out by the St. Thomas Proactive Investigation Unit (PIU) has led to the seizure of an AK-47 assault rifle and 18 assorted rounds of ammunition within the communities of Black Smith and Stewart Subject on Wednesday, March 26.

    Based on reviews from the Morant Bay Police, the operation happened between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. as officers carried out focused searches within the space. Throughout a search in Stewart Subject, regulation enforcement officers found the firearm and ammunition hid inside a knitted bag. The bag had been hidden in a PVC pipe, which was buried alongside the riverbed.

    The recovered ammunition included six 5.56 rounds and twelve 12-gauge shotgun rounds. Regardless of the numerous discover, no arrests have been made in reference to the seizure.

    Legislation enforcement officers proceed to encourage members of the general public to share any info that might help of their efforts to fight unlawful firearms and crime within the parish.
