    Vaz Granted Bail After Assault Complaint Filed in Savanna-la-Mar

    Individuals’s Nationwide Celebration (PNP) Member of Parliament for Westmoreland Central, Dwayne Vaz, and his driver have been charged in reference to an alleged assault reported in Savanna-la-Mar on Sunday.

    Vaz has denied collaborating in any bodily assault. In a press release issued by way of the opposition occasion on Wednesday, he maintained that he didn’t assault anybody.

    In accordance with Vaz, he reported to the Savanna-la-Mar Police Station after social media posts alleged that he was concerned in an altercation that resulted in a person being assaulted. He stated that upon arrival on the station, he was knowledgeable by a police constable {that a} criticism had been filed alleging assault occasioning precise bodily hurt. He was subsequently granted bail on his personal recognisance consistent with police procedures.

    The Member of Parliament defined that he had been attending an occasion at New Market Oval with colleagues when a disturbance occurred close by. He said that he noticed two males on the bottom engaged in what seemed to be a battle — considered one of whom was his driver, and the opposite the complainant.

    Vaz stated he, together with others current, intervened and separated the people concerned. He additional indicated that the complainant, whom he described as somebody recognized to him, left the venue on a bicycle following the incident. In accordance with Vaz, his driver later sought medical consideration and obtained a medical report.

    He confirmed that each the complainant and his driver have since been charged in relation to the matter.

    Vaz reiterated that he’s harmless of the allegations and said that he has made himself obtainable to help legislation enforcement as investigations proceed.
