    Police constable, one of two arrested in anti-trafficking operations in Hanover and Westmoreland

    A 31-year-old police constable is one in every of two males arrested following a collection of intelligence-driven anti-trafficking operations performed by law-enforcement in Hanover and Westmoreland yesterday.  

    The officer is connected to the Westmoreland Police Division.

    The operations have been led by the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime department (CTOC) in collaboration with the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID).

    In keeping with the Jamaica Constabulary Drive, investigators seized a complete of 85 assorted rounds of ammunition, a motorized vehicle, a number of cell phones and a sum of money throughout the operations.

    In Hanover, two males have been nabbed in an operation focusing on the unlawful sale of ammunition. 

    A subsequent search of the automobile they occupied led to the invention of extra rounds.

    Comply with-up operations additionally resulted within the restoration of extra ammunition at a location in Westmoreland.

    The constable and a 39-year-old civilian have been taken into custody in relation to the matter. 

    Each males are being detained on affordable suspicion of breaches of the Firearms (Prohibition, Restriction and Regulation) Act 2022, as investigations proceed.

    The JCF has reiterated its zero-tolerance method to legal exercise, significantly the place it entails its members.
