The restoration works being undertaken by the Jamaica Public Service JPS are anticipated to be ramped up, with one other 300 linesmen being introduced into the nation.

That is being facilitated by means of a US$150m mortgage settlement signed between the Authorities and JPS.

Power Minister Daryl Vaz says the settlement was signed on Friday, after two weeks of intense negotiations.

The discussions concerned the Power and Finance Ministries and the JPS.

The linesmen are anticipated to be within the island by subsequent week.

Mr. Vaz expects 90% electrical energy restoration this month and almost 100% by January.

The power minister is urging residents to be affected person, noting that JPS continues to revive electrical energy to communities.
