    Gov’t Finalising Next Phase of Public Sector Modernisation Programme – Jamaica Information Service

    The Authorities is at the moment finalising the following part of the Public Sector Modernisation Programme, geared toward enhancing service supply, streamlining operations, and aligning public administration with Jamaica’s evolving growth priorities.

    This was disclosed by Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Hon. Fayval Williams, who indicated that the following part of reform will prioritise accelerated digitisation to enhance accessibility, effectivity, and transparency, whereas strengthening institutional capability to equip public officers for the evolving calls for of Twenty first-century governance.

    She added that the following part will probably be results-driven, embedding efficiency, accountability, and citizen expertise on the core of service supply.

    “The following part will demand extra assets, extra coordination and far more change management than part one. However the scale of the problem solely reinforces the significance of getting it proper,” the Minister emphasised.

    Mrs. Williams famous that part one of many Public Sector Transformation Programme laid a strong basis for reform.

    She was addressing the official launch of the Change Administration Methodology for the Public Sector doc, on the AC Resort by Marriott Kingston on Wednesday (July 2). The doc is dubbed the ‘Change Evangelist’.

    Mrs. Williams stated the Authorities stays dedicated to advancing public-sector modernization – streamlining operations, enhancing transparency, and enhancing service supply to higher meet the wants of residents and nationwide growth targets.

    “The general public sector touches each side of our lives… from healthcare and schooling to infrastructure and social providers; it’s pivotal in shaping the standard of life for all Jamaicans. Nonetheless, like many countries, Jamaica faces challenges, some inherited, others rising. These challenges demand that we reimagine how our public sector operates,” she famous.

    Mrs. Williams acknowledged that inefficiency and outdated techniques proceed to hinder progress and innovation throughout the general public sector, noting that the Authorities has been actively figuring out these boundaries and implementing remedial measures to deal with them.

    “Whereas strides have been made over time, we should now take decisive and daring steps to modernise, streamline and reposition the general public sector. So, transformation is just not an possibility; it’s a necessity,” she added.

    In the meantime, Mrs. Williams urged stakeholders to utilise the Change Administration Methodology for the Public Sector doc successfully, describing it as a complete information.

    Government Director of the Transformation Implementation Unit (TIU), Maria Thompson Walters, described the doc as a complete digital playbook that intentionally guides customers by a structured method, emphasising not simply concept however actionable steps supported by instruments, templates, and real-world tales.

    “With the help of Ernst and Younger (EY), we have now created a playbook for our actuality. The ‘Evangelist’ is out there to each public officer and entity throughout authorities,” she stated.
