    Hundreds Celebrate Holi Hindu Festival at Royal Botanical Gardens – Jamaica Information Service

    A whole bunch of Indian nationals and associates of the Indian neighborhood gathered on the Royal Botanical Gardens in St. Andrew on Sunday (March 23) to have a good time the annual Holi Hindu competition.

    Often known as the ‘Competition of Colors’, Holi was held on the India-Jamaica Friendship Backyard on the Bandstand Lawns.

    It marks the tip of winter and the start of spring, symbolising the victory of excellent over evil, in addition to love, fertility and renewal.

    Throughout the occasion, folks of all ages smeared colourful powder on one another and sprayed water round.

    The competition additionally featured cultural performances, dance, music and video games, whereas some 15 distributors supplied a wide range of Indian and Jamaican meals, together with drink and conventional sweets.

    Youngsters and adults put together to take part in a three-legged race throughout Holi, the Hindu Competition of Colors held on Sunday (March 23). The occasion was held on the India-Jamaica Friendship Backyard, Royal Botanical Gardens in St. Andrew.

    The occasion was organised by the Indian Cultural Society in Jamaica and supported by the Excessive Fee of India and distinguished members of the Indian neighborhood.

    India’s Excessive Commissioner to Jamaica, His Excellency Mayank Joshi, informed JIS Information that he was happy with the turnout and “very completely satisfied to see the power and vibrancy”.

    “Holi is widely known in Jamaica yearly with nice pleasure and enthusiasm, each by the Indian neighborhood members and the Indian diaspora, associates of India and in addition the diplomatic neighborhood,” he stated.

    Excessive Commissioner Joshi, who was celebrating his first Holi in Jamaica since arriving final June, highlighted the symbolic significance of internet hosting the occasion on the India Jamaica Friendship Backyard.

    He famous that the venue underscores the rising and strengthening of ties between India and Jamaica.

    “I [was] very completely satisfied to see greater than 1,000, possibly about 1,500 folks… celebrating Holi, and kids having fun with themselves a lot,” he stated.

    Mr. Joshi thanked the sponsors, stakeholders and different pursuits supporting the competition, stating that, “it has been a collective effort by all”.
