The Jamaica Defence Pressure (JDF) will host a large-scale Mass Casualty Incident Response Train on January 23 as a part of its ongoing Train Occasion Horizon 2025.

This simulation, carried out in collaboration with regional and worldwide companions, will replicate an airliner crash off the Portland/St. Mary shoreline to guage emergency response capabilities and improve coordination amongst businesses.

Commander Alvin Gayle, Govt Officer of the Maritime Air and Cyber Command (MACC) and Officer Conducting Train (OCE), defined that the train goals to enhance readiness for real-life mass casualty occasions.

“The situation includes a simulated airliner crash with roughly 330 folks onboard. In the course of the train, we plan to recuperate 120 people or objects from the water,” Commander Gayle said.

The response will contain offshore vessels, plane, and drones to find and help crash survivors. Low-flying plane close to the shoreline will carry out search and rescue operations, transporting recovered people to shore.

“On the shoreline, triage areas managed by the Ministry of Well being and Wellness shall be activated, with ambulances and medical personnel responding to simulated accidents. This may check their means to handle emergency eventualities successfully,” Commander Gayle added.

The train will embody actors portraying injured passengers, giving first responders hands-on triage expertise. Skilled medical groups may also be current to deal with any unexpected incidents through the drill.

Residents and guests close to the Portland and St. Mary coastal areas are assured that it is a managed and deliberate occasion. Commander Gayle emphasised that no explosives or hazardous supplies shall be used, and there’s no want for alarm.

Train Occasion Horizon 2025 is a multinational and multi-domain coaching operation working from January 12 to 26 throughout Jamaica, The Cayman Islands, and offshore Haiti. Hosted by the JDF’s MACC, the occasion is supported by the United Nations Workplace on Medication and Crime World Maritime Crime Program (UNODC GMCP).

That is the third iteration of the train, which continues to construct on the area’s capability to handle advanced emergencies successfully.
