    Scores of girls have been honoured for his or her accomplishments at a particular ceremony, held on March 19, at The Jamaica Pegasus lodge in New Kingston.

    The occasion was hosted by the Bureau of Gender Affairs within the Ministry of Tradition, Gender, Leisure and Sport, in celebration of Nationwide Worldwide Girls’s Day, and was held below the theme: ‘A Celebration of Jamaican Girls’.

    In her deal with on the ceremony, Portfolio Minister, Hon. Olivia Grange, stated the occasion was held to applaud what the ladies have achieved, which ought to function an inspiration to younger girls and women.

    The Minister argued that the popularity strengthens the decision for efforts to grasp a world during which “our girls and women, together with probably the most deprived teams, have equal rights and are empowered to realize their fullest potential”.

    Noting that this yr marks the thirtieth anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Motion, which is called the “most complete and transformative” world agenda for the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of girls and women, Miss Grange stated Jamaica continues to make important strides in girls’s empowerment, as outlined by the “crucial areas of concern” below the Declaration.

    “At the moment, we are able to have fun the achievements of our girls in energy and decision-making roles, in schooling and coaching, their influence on the economic system in areas akin to sport and humanities, and their continued advocacy. Jamaican girls proceed to interrupt obstacles in politics, in enterprise and public service, and a variety of different sectors,” she stated.
