    Woman, 86, escapes unharmed after Philly home partially collapses – NBC10 Philadelphia

    An aged girl escaped unhurt after her house partially collapsed in North Philadelphia Monday morning.

    Elaine Thomas, 86, advised NBC10 she was watching tv along with her son inside her house on the 2100 block of North 9th Road when a building employee knocked on her door. The employee advised Thomas he was engaged on an empty lot subsequent door to her home.

    “He mentioned, ‘Miss, I come to knock the facet down of the alley.’ I mentioned, ‘Wait a minute, for what?’ He mentioned, ‘We’re going to construct a home. We’re going to construct a home subsequent to yours,’” Thomas advised NBC10.

    Later within the morning, round 9:50 a.m., Thomas heard a loud growth because the facet of house crashed to the bottom.

    Officers haven’t revealed the reason for the collapse. NBC10 reached out to a employee with the development firm that was doing work subsequent to Thomas’ house. That individual refused to remark. NBC10 reached out to L&I as properly. A spokesperson mentioned they could not remark as a result of ongoing investigation.

    NBC10 additionally confirmed Thomas’ house didn’t have any violations from L&I.

    Philadelphia police mentioned an individual was injured and positioned in steady situation in connection to the collapse. Thomas and her youngsters advised NBC10 that nobody of their household was damage within the incident, nonetheless.
