St John’s [Antigua], November 21 (ANI): West Indies named a 15-man squad for the following month’s three-match Check collection in opposition to New Zealand, with veteran pacer Kemar Roach securing a recall within the absence of first-choice pacers Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph, whereas right-arm seamer Ojay Shields earns a maiden call-up following a string of stable performances for West Indies A in opposition to South Africa A.

All-rounder Kavem Hodge can be recalled to the 15-player group for the Check collection that commences in Christchurch on December 1, with spinner Khary Pierre omitted from the squad, as per ICC.

The three-match collection will present the Caribbean facet with the chance to earn their first factors within the ongoing World Check Championship cycle, and West Indies director of cricket Miles Bascombe is assured his facet is as much as the duty.

‘New Zealand has historically been one of many hardest locations for any touring facet, which is why sturdy emphasis has been positioned on focused preparation. The latest high-performance camp right here in Antigua was designed to duplicate, as carefully as doable, the circumstances we count on to face, notably the pace-friendly surfaces,’ Bascombe stated.

‘That stage of intentional preparation, mixed with the benefit of a number of squad members already in New Zealand for the white-ball portion of the tour gaining useful time to acclimate, means this group goes into this collection as well-prepared as any West Indies squad to tour there lately,’ he added.

West Indies squad: Roston Chase (c), Jomel Warrican (vc), Alick Athanaze, John Campbell, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Shai Hope, Tevin Imlach, Brandon King, Johann Layne, Anderson Phillip, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Ojay Shields

    Collection schedule:

First Check: December 1-5, Hagley Oval, ChristchurchSecond Check: December 9-13, Basin Reserve, WellingtonThird Check: December 17-21, Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. (ANI)
