    UCC Launches Two Doctoral Programmes – Jamaica Information Service

    The College of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC) now provides two progressive doctoral programmes, the Physician of Enterprise Administration (DBA) and the Physician of Skilled Follow (DProf), aimed toward shaping the way forward for Jamaica’s workforce and driving the nation’s financial improvement.

    The official launch of the programmes was held on Could 28 on the UCC Major Campus, 17 Worthington Avenue in Kingston. Minister of Labour and Social Safety, Hon. Pearnel Charles Jr., who addressed the launch, mentioned it marks a major milestone in Jamaica’s improvement journey.

Pearnel Charles Jr. (proper), is greeted by Deputy President of the College Faculty of the Caribbean (UCC), Professor Bernadette Warner, on the current launch of the UCC Doctoral Programmes, on the College’s primary Campus, 17 Worthington Avenue in Kingston. At centre is President of the UCC, Professor Colin Gyles.

    He emphasised the significance of schooling and abilities improvement in remaining globally aggressive. “The Ministry of Labour and Social Safety is dedicated to aligning schooling with employment outcomes. These doctoral programmes will undoubtedly contribute to our efforts, equipping graduates with the talents and data essential to thrive in the way forward for work,”

    Minister Charles Jr. mentioned. In the meantime, President of UCC, Professor Colin Gyles, said that the doctoral programmes mirror the route by which the UCC goes in direction of deeper analysis, extra superior scholarship, and broader nationwide relevance.

    “They’ll serve Jamaica and the Caribbean by cultivating the subsequent technology of leaders in enterprise, governance, well being, {and professional} observe,” he added. Professor Gyles disclosed that the UCC has been re-accredited by the United Kingdom-based Accreditation Service for Worldwide Faculties, Schools, and Universities (ASIC).

    “Attaining college standing from the UCJ is a major endorsement of our governance, our dedication to innovation, and our pursuit of excellence in educational high quality,” he mentioned.

    “These recognitions mirror the calibre of our school, the resilience of our college students, and the energy of our strategic imaginative and prescient,” Professor Gyles asserted. The re-accreditation grew to become efficient from January 5, 2025 to January 4, 2029 and marks the college’s fourth consecutive time period receiving ASIC’s highest commendation, a distinction UCC has maintained since 2017.

    The UCC is the one official Affiliate/Recognised establishment of the College of London (UOL) to supply the Certificates of Increased Schooling in Widespread Legislation and the Bachelor of Legal guidelines (LLB) levels in Jamaica.
