A Denver man pleaded responsible to second-degree homicide on Thursday for fatally stabbing a passing driver with a 3-foot sword within the metropolis’s Faculty View neighborhood.
Patrick Browne, 40, was arrested Sept. 29, 2024, after police stated he stabbed 20-year-old Isaiah Martinez after a struggle.
Martinez was driving within the space when he stopped at a purple mild at West Evans Avenue and South Lipan Avenue, the place Browne was standing on the nook, in line with Denver police.
Browne began arguing with Martinez and a passenger within the automobile and threw a drink by the automobile window. When Martinez and the passenger bought out of the automobile, Browne pulled a big sword out of his curler suitcase and stabbed Martinez within the abdomen as he was making an attempt to get again within the automobile.
Martinez died on the hospital a short while later.
Browne was charged with first-degree homicide, assault and felony menacing within the stabbing. All three prices have been dismissed Thursday after he pleaded responsible to second-degree homicide, in line with courtroom information.
Browne faces 20 years within the Colorado Division of Corrections when he’s sentenced on Nov. 13, the Denver District Attorney’s Office stated.
