Fairbanks, Alaska – A 29-year-old Alaska mom has been sentenced to 130 years in jail for the murders of her two toddler daughters. Stephany Bilecki pleaded responsible in August to 2 counts of second-degree homicide and was sentenced on December ninth.
In 2015, Bilecki reported that her 4-month-old daughter, Chyanne, had died immediately. Whereas the preliminary explanation for dying was dominated as Sudden Toddler Loss of life Syndrome (SIDS), additional investigation revealed accidents in line with suffocation.
Tragically, an analogous incident occurred two years later in 2017 when Bilecki reported that her 13-month-old daughter, Jasmine, was unresponsive. Jasmine was later pronounced useless at a hospital.
An investigation into Jasmine’s dying led authorities to re-examine Chyanne’s dying. Police found that Bilecki had performed web searches shortly earlier than reporting Jasmine unresponsive, together with phrases resembling “Methods to suffocate” and “Tips on how to commit the proper homicide.”
An post-mortem decided that Jasmine died of issues of anoxia, an absence of oxygen to the mind.
Fairbanks District Lawyer Joe Dallaire expressed his dismay on the “stunning” nature of Bilecki’s crimes. “Though we can not faux that something will ever make up for the losses suffered by the fathers of those infants or their different members of the family, I do hope the convictions and the sentences imposed affords some measure of justice to the households of Jasmine and Chyanne and to the Fairbanks group at massive,” Dallaire said.
