    St. Catherine Man Killed in Alleged Police Confrontation

    SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine – Ricardo Alexander Powell, also called “Kogie,” of Belmore Lane, Spanish City, was fatally shot throughout an alleged confrontation with police in Spanish City on Thursday.

    The incident occurred at roughly 5:30 a.m. Police personnel, performing on a search warrant, entered a home on Belmore Lane and reportedly encountered Powell, who was allegedly armed with a handgun. Police say Powell opened fireplace on them, prompting them to return fireplace. Powell was shot and injured within the change.

    A Taurus .380 pistol, loaded with 4 rounds of cartridges and one spent casing, was reportedly recovered on the scene. Powell was taken to the Spanish City Hospital the place he was pronounced lifeless.

    The Impartial Fee of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the 1 capturing.
