    South Korea Impeaches President Yoon Suk Yeol After Martial Law Controversy

    SEOUL, South Korea – South Korea’s Nationwide Meeting voted Saturday to question President Yoon Suk Yeol, suspending his powers after a controversial martial regulation decree triggered political upheaval. The impeachment movement handed 204-85 amid widespread public outcry, forcing Prime Minister Han Duck-soo to imagine management because the Constitutional Courtroom critiques the case over the subsequent 180 days.

    Yoon’s martial regulation declaration on December 3, aimed toward quelling opposition, lasted six hours earlier than being unanimously overturned by parliament. Troop deployments to disrupt the vote intensified criticism, with opposition events accusing Yoon of unconstitutional revolt.

    Mass protests erupted throughout Seoul, with jubilant crowds celebrating what they referred to as a victory for democracy. In the meantime, Yoon vowed to persevere, urging officers to make sure authorities stability throughout his suspension.

    If the Constitutional Courtroom upholds the impeachment, Yoon shall be completely eliminated, triggering a presidential election inside 60 days. Observers say Yoon’s approval ranking, which has plummeted to 11%, displays broad public assist for his ouster.

    The disaster, marked by public divisions and worldwide concern, underscores deepening tensions in South Korea’s political panorama.
