    SOE declared in Trinidad and Tobago

    A state of emergency (SOE) has been declared in Trinidad and Tobago.

    The nation’s Prime Minister, Kamla Persard-Bissessar stated the safety measure follows what she describes, as a surge in violent gang-related crime and credible intelligence of deliberate assaults on members of the protecting companies.

    In an announcement issued final evening, Persard-Bissessar stated, based on the Nationwide Safety Council, because the earlier SOE ended on January 31, there was a rise in violent legal exercise throughout the nation, a lot of it attributed to organised legal gangs.

    She stated a number of of the latest incidents concerned mass shootings and a number of fatalities with reprisal assaults threatening to spiral additional if left unchecked.
