    Society urged to protect children from violence – Jamaica Inquirer

    Diahann Gordon Harrison, Kids’s Advocate made it clear that it’s completely authorized for youngsters to entry the ability with out the data of their dad and mom or guardians.

    Kids’s Advocate, Diahann Gordon-Harrison, is urging members of society to stay vigilant and constantly deal with persistent violence affecting youngsters. 

    Talking throughout the annual Early Childhood Fee (ECC) Skilled Improvement Institute on the Montego Bay Conference Centre on Wednesday, Might 21.

    Gordon Harrison pointed to latest tragedies, together with the taking pictures of a four-year-old lady throughout celebrations in Manchester, as stark reminders of the pervasive violence and destructive influences affecting youngsters. 

    “Kids are experiencing trauma day by day. This wave of violence signifies a societal failure – a mirrored image of a tradition that wants pressing transformation,” she emphasised. 

    Gordon Harrison known as for a collective effort among the many Authorities, communities, dad and mom, and civil society to create safer environments for youngsters. 

    “Defending our kids is a shared duty. We have to be vigilant, proactive, and compassionate. Our kids deserve secure areas, nurturing environments, and the liberty to develop with out concern,” she maintained. 

    Mrs. Gordon Harrison reaffirmed her workplace’s dedication to safeguarding youngsters’s rights and fostering a society the place each youngster can thrive in security and dignity. 

    The Workplace of the Kids’s Advocate is remitted by legislation to champion youngsters’s rights, guarantee their security, and supply steering to establishments working with them. 

    It advocates for coverage enhancements, conducts investigations, and works collaboratively with stakeholders to construct safer communities for Jamaica’s youngest residents.
