    Senate approves Criminal Records Amendment Act 2025

    The Senate yesterday authorized the Prison Information (Rehabilitation of Offenders) (Modification) Act 2025.

    The act permits for the removing of sure convictions from an individual’s felony file after a rehabilitation interval. 

    The amendments debated within the Senate increase eligibility to incorporate sentences of a most 10 years up from 5, and introduce computerized expungement for lesser, non-custodial convictions relationship earlier than January 1, 2005. 

    Critical offenses akin to homicide, rape, and drug trafficking can’t be expunged. 

    Minister of  Info, Senator Dr. Dana Morris Dixon piloted the talk on the laws.

    In the meantime, Authorities Senator Abka Fitz-Henley urged Jamaicans who will profit to reap the benefits of the second likelihood afforded to them and contribute positively to society.
