    Seiveright says Jamaica-China engagements must deliver long-term value for Jamaicans

    State Minister within the Ministry of Trade, Funding and Commerce, Delano Seiveright, says Jamaica’s rising engagement with China should ship stronger native enterprise linkages, jobs, expertise switch and long-term worth for Jamaicans.

    Talking on the Chinese language New Yr, Spring Competition 2026 – Yr of the Horse celebration in Montego-Bay not too long ago, Seiveright stated true partnerships have to be grounded in respect, readability and actual outcomes for native enterprises.

    Seiveright pointed to the evolving Jamaica–China partnership throughout infrastructure, well being, tourism and private-sector funding, noting that such cooperation has strengthened nationwide connectivity, expanded Jamaica’s capability to host high-value enterprise and tourism exercise, and contributed to long-term social growth.

    He  highlighted the rising footprint of Chinese language private-sector funding in development, hospitality and actual property, together with large-scale developments similar to The Pinnacle in Montego-bay.

    Mr. Seiveright  additionally famous the rising presence of Chinese language automobile manufacturers similar to BYD, Jaecoo, Omoda, Jetour and GWM on Jamaican roads.

    He then urged stronger business-to-business partnerships with Jamaican corporations as Jamaica deepens its business ties with China.
