    Port Maria Mayor chastises NWA for not adequately maintaining roads and drains

    Mayor of Port Maria Fitzroy Wilson has chastised the Nationwide Works Company (NWA) for what he deems the failure to adequately keep roads and drains in St. Mary, for which it has accountability.

    His feedback come after a bit of the Huddersfield to Stewart City foremost street was flooded on account of heavy rainfall yesterday, rendering the thoroughfare impassable.

    There are additionally studies that the houses of some residents have been flooded. 

    The mayor stated on quite a few events the St Mary Municipal Company needed to conduct upkeep on infrastructure that fall below the purview of the NWA.

    He’s calling on the company to fulfil its mandate and scale back the affect of flooding on residents.

    The Mayor added that considerations have been mounting over an unmaintained soak-away within the space, noting that heavy gear is required to correctly clear it.

    The Mayor stated assessments are being performed to find out how greatest to supply help to residents affected by the heavy rainfall over the previous few days.

    He stated contact was made with the related authorities to coordinate aid and response.
