St. Catherine, Jamaica – The Jamaica Constabulary Power (JCF) has confirmed that trainees on the Nationwide Police School of Jamaica have undergone a body-worn digital camera (BWC) coaching session, a part of the Power’s ongoing efforts to advertise accountability, transparency, and belief inside legislation enforcement.

Based on the JCF, the three-day coaching session, which started on Friday, October 3, was facilitated by personnel from the Info and Communications Know-how Division. This system was designed to equip officers with the technical expertise essential to successfully function the cameras and to encourage professionalism in public interactions.

The JCF emphasised that policing continues to evolve in a technology-driven period, with improvements like BWCs enjoying an important position in enhancing belief between the police and residents.

This initiative follows the latest announcement by the JCF that 1,000 body-worn cameras have been procured and are anticipated to reach within the island shortly.

Requires the widespread use of physique cameras intensified following the September 15 deadly taking pictures of 22-year-old Jahmar Farquharson on Cherry Tree Lane in Clarendon. His household later launched CCTV footage displaying the moments earlier than his loss of life. The Unbiased Fee of Investigations (INDECOM) is at the moment probing the incident.

The JCF has prolonged condolences to Farquharson’s household and reaffirmed its dedication to larger transparency in policing throughout the island.
