    Police investigating reports of motor vehicle scam

    The Jamaica Constabulary Power, (JCF) is investigating reviews of a fraudulent scheme concentrating on people who’ve bought or are planning to promote their motor autos.

    Criminals are reportedly contacting automobile sellers by way of phone, pretending to be Police Officers and claiming that the autos they’re planning to promote or have bought are stolen properties.

    The JCF says below the pretense of serving to the sellers keep away from prosecution or reimbursing the supposed purchaser, these scammers demand speedy money funds from the sellers.

    The Police say the scammers then enlist unsuspecting ride-share drivers to gather money from victims and transport the funds to varied drop-off areas.

    The JCF is urging residents to stay vigilant.

    It says below no circumstance ought to cash be paid to people making such calls for over the cellphone.

    Individuals are additionally being reminded that that no reputable police operation entails soliciting or amassing cash from residents to settle prison issues or reimburse third events.

    The Police say if individuals obtain a name of this nature, they need to dangle up instantly and report the incident to the closest police station or crime cease at 311.

    Journey-share drivers are additionally being urged to be cautious of requests to move unaccompanied packages, particularly these suspected of containing money, as transporting the proceeds of crime could implicate them in prison actions.

    Superintendent of Police Victor Barrett of the Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigations Department (C-TOC) says the police are actively probing the incidents and urging the general public to report them.

    Such incidents might be reported by calling C-TOC at 876-967-1389, the police 119 emergency quantity or the closest police station.
