    PM Holness says situation in Cuba must be addressed

    Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says Jamaica helps constructive dialogue between the USA and Cuba, geared toward de-escalation, reform and stability.

    Dr. Holness who can also be outgoing Chairman of the Caribbean Group, CARICOM, made the declaration in the present day.

    He was talking on the fiftieth Common Assembly of Convention of Heads of Authorities of CARICOM, in St. Kitts & Nevis.

    His assertion comes amidst tensions between Cuba and the US.

    The US has reportedly applied measures to chop off Cuba’s oil provide, affecting different key sectors comparable to well being care, within the Caribbean nation.

    Addressing the CARICOM assembly Dr. Holness mentioned the state of affairs in Cuba have to be addressed.

    He mentioned there ought to be little doubt that Jamaica stands firmly for democracy, human rights, political accountability and open market-based economies.

    United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio is anticipated to take part within the CARICOM assembly tomorrow.

    He’s anticipated to reaffirm the USA’ dedication to working with CARICOM member states to reinforce stability and prosperity within the hemisphere.
