    PM Holness Challenges Chinese Contractors to Help Build Affordable Housing

    Montego Bay, St James: Talking on Wednesday, Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness referred to as on Chinese language contractors to make use of their building experience to help Jamaica’s inexpensive housing drive, stressing that the nation can not have fun luxurious developments whereas hundreds of households stay with out roofs following Hurricane Melissa.

    The Prime Minister made the remarks on the topping-out ceremony for Tower One at The Pinnacle Montego Bay improvement, emphasizing that the nationwide rebuilding effort requires builders who can work “at scale and at tempo,” notably in communities hardest hit by the storm.

    “We will’t be celebrating luxurious when there are literally thousands of households with out roofs,” Holness mentioned. “Each hour of my day is spent determining tips on how to get roofs again on properties rapidly, successfully, affordably, and sustainably.”

    He pointed to the velocity at which the 28-storey skyscraper was constructed as proof that the engineering group and LCH Improvement have the capability to assist handle Jamaica’s housing deficit.

    “If you are able to do this, you may construct hundreds of homes as properly,” he mentioned. “The Authorities of Jamaica is keen to associate with you on low-income housing, which is totally mandatory at the moment.”
