Jamaica now has a poverty index that may allow authorities and different stakeholders to raised monitor depravation and design acceptable assist programmes.
The Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI), which is a complete measure for non-income poverty, was launched yesterday.
The index is a collaborative mission by the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ), the Caribbean Improvement Financial institution and the Oxford Poverty and Human Improvement Initiative.
The PIOJ stated the MPI is a complement to the present strategy that’s based mostly on consumption.
