    The Ministry of Justice has invested greater than $3.7 billion snce 2016 to roll out different justice companies for all Jamaicans.

    These embrace Restorative Justice, Baby Diversion and Sufferer Companies, that are facilitated via the just lately fashioned Social Justice Division.

    He was making his contribution to the 2025/26 Sectoral Debate within the Home of Representatives on Tuesday (June 3).

    Mr. Chuck stated the Division pioneered its ‘Justice Fi All A Wi Tour’ throughout numerous parishes throughout 2024/25.

    College visits, group city halls and church visits have been strategically utilised to spotlight the transformational advantages of different justice companies.

    The Division can be spearheading a detailed public-private partnership with the community-driven Venture STAR initiative.

    Mr. Chuck stated the Ministry formalised this strategic alliance with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in January 2025.

    Venture STAR is a social and financial transformation initiative, created by the Non-public Sector Organisation of Jamaica in partnership with the Jamaica Constabulary Pressure.

    “The Division is now offering crucial justice companies to under-resourced communities the place Venture STAR operates. As an example, this partnership has already witnessed the supply of Restorative Justice sensitisation periods to communities equivalent to Parade Gardens, Might Pen West, Rose Gardens, Savanna-la-Mar, and Salt Spring,” Mr. Chuck knowledgeable.

    The Division can be providing licensed Restorative Justice Facilitator coaching to Venture STAR’s group leaders.

    Minister Chuck additionally highlighted the renewal of the MOU with the Ministry of Schooling, Youth, Abilities and Data, which was expanded to, not solely present coaching and sensitisation in Restorative Justice but in addition Sufferer Companies and Baby Diversion.

    Moreover, the MOU features a streamlined pathway for faculties to offer help to college students, via these different justice companies.

    “The Venture STAR initiative, the social justice excursions, the worldwide alliances, the inter-Ministerial and multi-stakeholder partnerships being pursued by the Social Justice Division all characterize the Ministry’s continued dedication in advancing justice in the direction of a safer Jamaica,” Mr. Chuck stated.
