    OUR says it struck the right balance with 7% increase in electricity bills

    The Workplace of Utilities Regulation (OUR), says the 7% enhance on November electrical energy payments is important to assist maintain the restoration of the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) following disruptions attributable to Hurricane Melissa.

    The adjustment follows JPS’ announcement that clients will see increased payments this month resulting from elevated gasoline and Unbiased Energy Producer (IPP) prices after Hurricane Melissa

    Talking at a press briefing yesterday, OUR’s Director-Common Ansord Hewitt defined that whereas the OUR is conscious of avoiding “invoice shocks” for patrons, the present interval is exceptionally difficult.

    Mr Hewitt acknowledged that many shoppers’ means to pay, has been affected considerably, however harassed that the adjustment can also be crucial to sustaining JPS’ money circulate and making certain a sooner and extra sustainable restoration of the electrical energy system.
