    NSWMA says workers’ safety major priority as employees raise concern following death of sanitation officer

    The Nationwide Strong Waste Administration Authority (NSWMA) has sought to guarantee that the security of its employees is a serious precedence.

    The reassurance comes amidst a protest by a number of staff of MPM Waste Administration Restricted this morning.

    The employees, who gathered on the entrance of the corporate’s Spanish City Street workplace, are involved about their security following the demise of a sanitation officer.

    Garfield Johnson was rushed to hospital after struggling extreme burns whereas on responsibility in Greenwich Farm, St. Andrew on January 16.

    He succumbed to his accidents yesterday.

    Talking with IRIE FM Information, NSWMA’s Government Director, Audley Gordon, careworn that although security measures are in place, there could be no assure that tragic incidents is not going to occur.

    Mr. Gordon famous that the NSWMA is mourning the lack of a valued member of its crew.

    He stated the protest will affect as we speak’s operations in some areas.

    In an announcement this morning, the NSWMA expressed condolences to Mr. Johnson’s household, pals and colleagues.

    The Authority stated Mr. Johnson’s passing is a painful reminder of the dangers confronted every day by sanitation employees, as they serve communities throughout Jamaica.

    The NSWMA additionally famous that the police are investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.
