    NSHP Homes are Investments in Families and Communities – PM Holness – Jamaica Information Service

    Andrew Holness, says houses constructed beneath the Authorities’s New Social Housing Programme (NSHP) are investments, not solely within the beneficiaries but additionally of their communities.

    He was talking throughout a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday (June 4) for a house that was handed over to NSHP beneficiary, Clive Griffiths, in Franklin City, Kingston Central.

    In the meantime, Prime Minister Holness reaffirmed the Authorities’s mandate to make sure that each Jamaican has a good place to stay, following reviews of the substandard situations wherein the recipients beforehand resided.

    “This New Social Housing Programme is designed to help individuals like Mr. Griffiths who should not working, don’t have any earnings, don’t have any technique of assist, however whose housing situation is such that it’s usually agreed to be substandard,” he added.

    Mr. Griffiths, who acquired a three-bedroom unit, shared that his earlier rental house was stricken by rodents and leaked every time it rained.

    “So I reached out to the [Member of Parliament (MP) for Kingston Central, Donovan Williams] and the MP reached out to the Prime Minister,” he said.

    Mr. Griffiths defined that after buying the land, he, his two daughters and son now really feel protected and safe.

    “[I am] very, very joyful. I need to thank everybody who put within the work for me to get this home,” he added.

    Ms. Robinson, who expressed comparable sentiments to JIS Information upon receiving the keys to her new house, exclaimed: “I’m so excited; I’m so glad!”.
