The killers — reportedly Duppy and one other younger man, Ethan Slater — had been arrested throughout a police operation shortly after the homicide. Duppy was later granted bail underneath strict situations that he not return to Westmoreland aside from courtroom appearances. He instructed the courtroom he would reside in St. James.

Nevertheless, as an alternative of staying out of hassle, Duppy allegedly turned concerned with a St. James-based gang engaged in robberies, shootings, and extortion.

On the night time of his demise, Duppy was reportedly a part of a gang that robbed a supply truck driver at a High Street stoplight in Montego Bay. Using pillion on a motorbike, Duppy approached the truck, held the motive force at gunpoint, and took a big sum of money.

However as he tried to flee the scene, one in all his personal alleged accomplices — driving a Toyota Axio — intentionally ran him over. Gang members then took his unlawful firearm and the stolen cash, dragged him into bushes, and viciously beat him earlier than overlaying his physique with shrubs.

Although gravely wounded, Duppy managed to crawl out to the roadside, the place he was later discovered by police. He was transported to Cornwall Regional Hospital, the place he succumbed to his accidents.
