    New dementia wristband initiative launched in Enniskillen

    The Western Well being and Social Care Belief teamed up with varied companions to introduce the ‘Age Concern Causeway Dementia Safeguarding Scheme’ on Wednesday, April 16.

    The scheme, which originated in Northern Eire and proved profitable within the Northern Belief space final autumn, includes a wristband that shops digital details about the wearer.

    If the wearer is misplaced or distressed, somebody can scan their wristband to establish them.

    “These blue bands will imply that the police will not need to take anybody with dementia to a police station, which makes getting misplaced an much more traumatic expertise.”

    The wristbands are free and could be picked up at varied places.

    Majella Magee, dementia service enchancment lead – neighborhood and older folks’s companies on the Western Belief, stated: “We all know that the variety of folks in Northern Eire with dementia is constant to develop and so they could really feel they do not have a voice; we wish to be their voice.”
