    NCMC Celebrates Child Month with Slate of Activities – Jamaica Information Service

    The Nationwide Little one Month Committee (NCMC) has unveiled a slate of actions to mark Little one Month in Could, targeted on celebrating the achievements of youngsters and selling their rights and well-being.

    Beneath the theme ‘Act Now: Stand In opposition to Little one Abuse and Exploitation’, the slate of occasions, which can lengthen into November, was launched on April 10 at GraceKennedy Restricted in downtown Kingston.

    “This can be a time to have fun the resilience and brilliance of our kids. It’s additionally a time to encompass them with help, whether or not by way of a sort phrase, a protecting motion or just displaying up,” mentioned Chairperson of the NCMC, Nicole Patrick-Shaw, on the launch.

    The celebration kicks off with a nationwide church service on Saturday, Could 3 at Northern Caribbean College (NCU) in Mandeville, Manchester.

    This might be adopted by Nationwide Youngsters’s Day on Could 16, and residents are inspired to point out their help by sporting sunshine yellow on the day.

    Jamaicans are invited to wish for the nation’s kids on the Nationwide Day of Prayer on Wednesday, Could 28, and on Friday, Could 30, the NCMC will distribute care packages to susceptible households.

    The slate of actions continues into November with the Youth Tutorial Achievement Awards and Youth Discussion board, honouring college students who’ve overcome obstacles to excel.

    Mrs. Patrick-Shaw is encouraging Jamaicans to help the NCMC actions and others organised by numerous entities and organisations throughout Little one Month.

    “For those who can’t be a part of our actions, create your personal. Host a studying circle, test in on a baby, help a household,” she recommended.

    Little one Month includes partnership from the Ministry of Schooling, Abilities and Youth, the Little one Safety and Household Providers Company (CPFSA), and a number of other non-governmental organisations and neighborhood teams.

    The lead sponsors are GraceKennedy and Nationwide Baking Firm Restricted.

    In the course of the launch, KFC donated $1 million to help the work of the NCMC.

    The sponsorship consists of $500,000 in money and $500,000 for provision of care packages.
