    Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Launches Sign Language Project – Jamaica Information Service

    Miss Jamaica Competition Queen 2024, Omolora Wilson, has launched the Signed Sealed Jamaica challenge, which is geared toward instructing points of Jamaica’s tradition by signal language.

    The programme shall be carried out at school golf equipment as an extracurricular exercise and in church buildings in New Market, St. Elizabeth, from which Ms. Wilson hails.

    Signed Sealed Jamaica, which is the Miss Jamaica Competition Queen nationwide challenge, was launched in a ceremony on Monday (April 7) on the Ranny Williams Leisure Centre in Kingston.

    Whereas offering an outline of the programme, Ms. Wilson defined that she was initially impressed to make signal language extra inclusive in colleges whereas she served as Guild President of The College of the West Indies, Mona (2022-2024).

    Minister of Tradition, Gender, Leisure and Sport, Hon. Olivia Grange, in remarks delivered by Coordinator of the Miss Jamaica Competition Queen Competitors, Mrs. Andrea McCurdy, recommended Ms. Wilson and the challenge for its impression on cultural improvement.

    “It’s completely aligned with the mandate of the Ministry to advertise tradition as a instrument for inclusion and empowerment and to make sure that all Jamaicans, no matter skill, have a voice and really feel seen and valued. This challenge additionally underscores one of many JCDC’s (Jamaica Cultural Growth Fee’s) most cherished rules, that tradition is for everybody,” Mrs. McCurdy stated.
