    Man Fatally Shot in Alleged Police Confrontation on Old Harbour Road

    SPANISH TOWN, ST. CATHERINE — A person was fatally shot by the police throughout an alleged confrontation on Outdated Harbour Street in Spanish City late final evening.

    The deceased has been recognized as 48-year-old Vernon Campbell, also referred to as “Bald Head,” a labourer from the identical space.

    In line with the police, the incident occurred round 9:30 p.m. whereas officers had been on patrol within the neighborhood of a small gathering. Campbell’s habits reportedly raised the suspicions of the officers, prompting them to strategy him.

    The police report that as they tried to accost Campbell, a bodily altercation ensued throughout which he allegedly pulled a firearm and fired at them.

    The officers reportedly returned fireplace, hitting Campbell. A Ruger pistol loaded with seven rounds of ammunition was recovered on the scene.

    Campbell was transported to the Spanish City Hospital, the place he was pronounced useless.

    The Impartial Fee of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deadly taking pictures, as is normal process in such incidents.

    The incident has drawn combined reactions from residents of Outdated Harbour Street. Whereas some have expressed considerations concerning the taking pictures, others have pointed to rising tensions within the space and the challenges confronted by regulation enforcement.

    INDECOM is predicted to offer updates as their probe progresses.
