    Man Charged with Rape in Westmoreland

    SAVANNA-LA-MAR, Westmoreland – A 28-year-old building employee has been charged with rape following an alleged sexual assault in Water Wheel, Cave, Westmoreland, on January 13.

    Sheldon Thompson, also referred to as ‘Shello,’ of Beggar View, Water Wheel, was apprehended on Monday and subsequently charged by the Savanna-la-Mar police.

    The police report that on the afternoon of January 13, the complainant, who was alone at her dwelling, was allegedly attacked by Thompson, who is thought to her.

    It’s alleged that Thompson forcibly held the complainant down and sexually assaulted her earlier than fleeing the scene.

    The complainant later disclosed the incident to a relative, who subsequently reported the matter to the police.

    Following an investigation, Thompson was recognized because the suspect and apprehended throughout a police operation on Monday.

    He was subsequently charged after giving a warning assertion to the police. Thompson is awaiting his courtroom date.
