A 23-year-old man is now in police custody after allegedly robbing a nightclub patron in Ewarton, St. Catherine, and assaulting him with an unlawful firearm on Sunday night time.
The suspect is being held on suspicion of possession of a prohibited weapon, theft with aggravation, illegal wounding, and malicious destruction of property.
Based on police studies, round 11:45 p.m., a 66-year-old man was at Membership Amazura on Major Avenue when he was accosted by the suspect and robbed of $17,000.
When the sufferer resisted, the suspect allegedly grabbed him by the shirt and struck him within the face with a gun. The complainant managed to flee and ran to the Ewarton Police Station, the place he reported the incident.
Cops accompanied the sufferer again to the nightclub, the place he identified the suspect. Upon looking him, the police reportedly found a Beretta pistol with {a magazine} containing seven rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition.
The suspect was instantly arrested. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
