The Jamaica Medical Docs’ Affiliation (JMDA) has written to new Finance and the Public Service Minister, Fayval Williams, expressing ”profound disappointment and rising frustration” with what it described as continued delays in resolving the difficulty of extra time remuneration for its members.

The affiliation has given Williams 24 hours to behave on the matter or threat the chance of instability within the well being sector.

In a letter on Thursday, the JMDA mentioned, “As soon as extra, right this moment’s assembly with the Ministry of Finance and Public Service (MOFPS), the Ministry of Well being and Wellness (MOHW), and the Regional Well being Authorities (RHAs) didn’t yield any significant progress. As an alternative, it has bolstered the notion that the considerations of Jamaica’s medical doctors are being met with delay and flagrant disregard.”

    Fayval Williams

The affiliation listed its considerations as:

    Ongoing Issues:

    1. Breach of Belief:

“Our members are deeply disturbed by these negotiations (which are) characterised by an absence of transparency and accountability. The Authorities’s continued failure to honour our settlement undermines the belief between the Authorities of Jamaica and the JMDA.”

    1. Impression on Healthcare Supply:

“The breach of belief, delays and uncertainty have taken a toll on our medical doctors who work tirelessly underneath difficult situations. They’ve compromised the standard of care we’re in a position to present to the Jamaican individuals, as a demoralised workforce can not maintain the excessive requirements of care that the general public deserves.”

    Our Place:

“Our members are disheartened by the (perceived) lack of urgency and transparency. Regardless of our repeated efforts to collaborate with the Authorities and negotiate in good religion, the method is marred by evasion and procrastination. These delays will not be solely disrespectful to our members who kind the spine of the nation’s healthcare, however in addition they jeopardise your entire well being system.”

The JMDA mentioned it stays steadfast in its demand for a good and well timed decision (of the matter).

“We search not merely for improved compensation; we search for the dignity of our labour to be upheld, and the continuity of high quality healthcare in our nation.

“At yesterday’s assembly, we made it clear that we count on a complete and clear decision inside 24 hours. We’ll not settle for these persistent delays. Ought to the MOFPS, MOHW and (the) RHAs fail to behave decisively, we can not assure that the well being sector will stay unaffected within the coming days,” the affiliation said within the letter to Williams.

“The JMDA is looking on the Ministry to behave now. This isn’t only a matter of coverage; it’s a matter of precept, respect and justice for individuals who dedicate their lives to the service of our nation, Jamaica. The well being of our nation is determined by it,” concluded the affiliation.
