    Jamaican Conjoined Twins Depart for Saudi Arabia Ahead of Life-Changing Surgery – Jamaica Information Service

    Conjoined twins, Azaria and Azora Elson, have departed Jamaica for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the place they’re scheduled to endure life-changing separation surgical procedure.

    The 20-month-old toddlers, their mom, Iesha McMurray, and a crew of medical professionals departed the island on a Medevac flight from the Norman Manley Worldwide Airport (NMIA) in Kingston on Sunday (July 27).

    Azaria and Azora are Omphalopagus conjoined twins – joined on the stomach – a uncommon congenital situation occurring in roughly one in each 50,000 to 150,000 reside births worldwide.

    She emphasised that the initiative deserves world commendation, recognition, and appreciation.

    “We ship our prayers for the steerage of the arms and hearts [of the medical team] as they undertake this most delicate and delicate surgical procedure that has the chance to vary two lives and the entire lives that encompass them. We ship each blessing and each prayer for his or her steerage,” Minister Johnson Smith stated.

    In the meantime, Ambassador Alhamoudi assured Mr. Elson that the surgical procedure will likely be profitable.

    He famous that earlier on Sunday, a surgical crew on the King Abdullah Specialist Youngsters’s Hospital efficiently separated 17-month-old Syrian conjoined twins, Selin and Elin.

    The eight-hour process was performed by a multidisciplinary medical crew, comprising 24 consultants and specialists.

    An emotional Mr. Elson expressed heartfelt gratitude for the help he and his household have obtained from the Ministry, the UHWI crew and the Saudi Arabian Authorities.

    He famous that the twins’ mom has been a pillar of energy all through their medical journey, making day by day visits to the hospital to consolation and look after the kids.
