    Jamaica Hosts Pan-American Day Celebrations – Jamaica Information Service

    Representatives from 21 Group of American States (OAS) Member States converged on the Ministry of International Affairs and International Commerce in downtown Kingston on Monday (April 14) to have a good time Pan-American Day.

    The observance commemorates the inaugural Worldwide Convention of American States, which culminated on April 14, 1890, with the creation of the Worldwide Union of American Republics (Pan-American Union), predecessor to the OAS.

    Talking through the commemorative ceremony, Portfolio Minister, Senator the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, emphasised the enduring worth of group in a altering world.

    In her remarks, Resident Consultant of the OAS Basic Secretariat in Jamaica, Jeanelle Van Glaanenweygel, famous that the spirit of Pan-American Day displays the Members’ shared journeys, transcending borders, languages and histories.
