    Jamaica Appoints First Special Envoy for Climate and Blue Economy

    Jamaica has named Professor Dale Webber as its inaugural Particular Envoy for Local weather Change, Surroundings, Ocean, and Blue Economic system, marking a major step within the nation’s environmental management.

    The announcement was made by Minister with out Portfolio within the Ministry of Financial Development and Job Creation (MEGJC), Matthew Samuda, throughout a parliamentary session on January 21. Professor Webber, a famend marine biologist and conservationist, will maintain the title of Ambassador on this capability.

    As a former principal of the College of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus, Professor Webber’s profession highlights his experience in Coastal and Environmental Administration, in addition to his dedication to combating local weather change.

    “His tutorial background and distinguished contributions to public service make him exceptionally certified for this put up,” Minister Samuda acknowledged.

    In his new function, Professor Webber will report on to Prime Minister Andrew Holness whereas working carefully with MEGJC and the Ministry of Overseas Affairs and Overseas Commerce (MFAFT) to advocate for Jamaica’s environmental pursuits on the worldwide stage.

    Minister Samuda outlined the rising necessity for such a place, emphasizing the growing world demand for nations to actively interact in local weather change, environmental, and ocean-related negotiations.

    Professor Webber’s appointment underscores Jamaica’s dedication to advancing local weather motion, sustainable environmental practices, and fostering a thriving blue financial system.
