    Italian bishops, government sign accord to promote legal immigration | News Headlines

    Cardinal Matteo Zuppi of Bologna, the president of the Italian Episcopal Convention, and Italian Minister of the Inside Matteo Piantedosi have signed a memorandum of understanding. The Italian bishops’ newspaper reported that the two-year settlement has the “intention of enhancing authorized migration, allocating reception and inclusion initiatives to migrants who’re entitled to it.”

    The inside minister mentioned that the settlement fosters “a mannequin of reception that mixes solidarity and legality, enhancing the elemental function of ecclesial realities within the territories.”

    Cardinal Zuppi mentioned that the memorandum “underlines and confirms the [Church’s] collaboration with [state] establishments and the nice function of ecclesial communities for reception and integration, contrasting illegality with legality.” The settlement, he added, is “an extra step in guaranteeing safe rights and duties of migrants, who’re by no means simply numbers … however individuals who want far-sighted integration insurance policies.”
